Thomas didn’t know where to turn, then he turned his life around

In 2021, Thomas and his partner broke up. Not being from the UK, he had no family or friends he could turn to. For a few months, he slept rough behind a local shop. Until early one morning, the owner caught him and moved him on.

When Thomas arrived at our Day Centre, he was unable to communicate with us. We organised an interpreter and with her help, completed a homelessness application for him. There was a lack of beds available, but we managed to find emergency accommodation.

In the next few months, we worked with Enfield Council to help Thomas find a more permanent home. The council agreed to pay his rental deposit and we went with him to view several places. After a long search for an understanding landlord, Thomas moved into a flat where he stills lives now.

It’s been a long journey, but we’re so glad to have helped Thomas find his feet again. Recently, we helped him complete a grant application so he can buy furniture for his new home.
